ABOUT EMA

My name is Ema. I am a young, active individual who deeply cares about the world around me and the well-being of others. While I am not part of the LGBTQIA+ community myself, I am passionate about addressing issues that affect them. I believe in contributing, even in small ways, to ensure that everyone feels respected, valued, and supported. By fostering understanding and empathy, I hope to create a more inclusive and compassionate environment for all.

I currently work as a coordinator for volunteers in a European Solidarity Corps (ESC) project. This role allows me to combine my passion and my dedication to supporting others in meaningful ways. I guide and assist volunteers throughout their journey, ensuring they feel empowered, supported, and equipped to make a positive impact.

Currently, I am pursuing my doctoral studies in Integrative Social Work, building upon a solid academic foundation established during my bachelor’s and master’s studies. Throughout this academic journey, I have consistently engaged with complex and critical topics, particularly those centered around the LGBTQIA+ community, which remains a core focus of my research and advocacy.

During my bachelor’s and master’s programs, I had the privilege of exploring the multifacete challenges faced by LGBTQIA+ individuals in various social contexts. My academic work has often examined the intersectionality of identity, systemic barriers, and the lived experiences of marginalized communities. These themes not only deepened my understanding of the sociopolitical and cultural dimensions influencing inclusivity but also fueled my passion for contributing to meaningful change through evidence-based practice and research.

What drives my commitment is not just an academic curiosity but a profound personal and professional mission to promote equity and inclusion. I have engaged in projects and initiatives that underscore the importance of creating supportive environments for LGBTQ+ individuals, whether through educational programs, community outreach, or policy recommendations. I view social work as a transformative discipline—one that bridges theory with practice to challenge systemic inequities and empower individuals to thrive authentically. In my doctoral studies, I aim to build upon these experiences by delving deeper into integrative approaches to social work. Specifically, I am interested in examining how interdisciplinary  frameworks can enhance support systems for LGBTQIA+ communities, addressing not only individual well-being but also systemic and structural change.

In addition to my academic pursuits, I have the privilege of serving as the coordinator for volunteers participating in a European Solidarity Corps (ESC) project as I mentioned before. This role has been immensely fulfilling, as it allows me to actively support individuals in their personal and professional growth while fostering a sense of community and collaboration.

As a coordinator, I take great pride in guiding and assisting volunteers through every step of their journey, whether that involves navigating logistical challenges, offering emotional support, or helping them with formal things. These experiences have deepened my ability to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and create a supportive environment where everyone can thrive. Supporting individuals as they overcome challenges and celebrate successes has strengthened my passion for working with diverse groups and reaffirmed my commitment to promoting inclusivity, empathy, and mutual respect in all areas of life.
